GODSENT have advanced to the lower bracket semi-finals at cs_summit 6 after beating Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Although at one point it looked like GODSENT would be on the receiving end of a tough beating again after a poor showing against BIG in the upper quarter-finals, the Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend-led squad managed to recover from the tough loss as they came back from behind on Vertigo to win in triple overtime before securing a comfortable Train affair.
Despite the loss, the Swedes have earned enough points to maintain at least a top-six placing in the European ranking by the time cs_summit 6 comes to a close, with at least 1,125 points secured from the second Regional Major Ranking event and the potential to earn 125 more in a seventh-place decider against North on Thursday.
Vertigo was a game of big CT sides and missed opportunities. It was initially looking set to be a quick affair when Ninjas in Pyjamas put together a solid defense in part thanks to a halfbuy win in the sixth round which tipped the scales in the Swedes' favor, but it soon turned out that the Hampus "hampus" Poser-led side would have their work cut out for them.
Down 5-11, GODSENT started mounting a comeback while Martin "STYKO" Styk kept running rampant in defense of middle and the B bombsite, initially picking up a triple in a forcebuy win before adding four more multikills to his name over the course of an eight-round streak.
The first opportunity to close the opening map was in the hands of Ninjas in Pyjamas, who stopped GODSENT's massive run when they turned around a 3v5 in an afterplant scenario on B, but consecutive plays from Pavle "Maden" Bošković ensured overtime. There, the European mix had their big chance to open the series with a win after going 3-0 on the defense, but the Swedes responded with a three-round run of their own on the back of Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora's quad-kill.
It wasn't until the third overtime, after GODSENT couldn't capitalize on yet another map point in the second, that Vertigo came to an end when kRYSTAL's team found success on the offense, with the German in-game leader himself putting the map to rest with a 1v2 clutch for a 25-23 victory.
Train turned out to be a much more comfortable affair for Jesse "zehN" Linjala and company. After not letting Ninjas in Pyjamas capitalize on a pistol round win, GODSENT dominated again on the CT side as a double-AWP setup in the hands of Asger "Farlig" Jensen and Maden worked wonders and earned them an 11-4 halftime score. STYKO's 1v3 clutch in the second pistol spelled even more trouble for the Swedes, who did their best to come back into contention from a 4-15 deficit but ultimately couldn't keep the offense at bay after the sixth attempt from GODSENT to close the map was successful.
